Walkouts & Wake-Up Calls: Netanyahu Divides The UN
Netanyahu's hotel came under fire from constant car horns through the night, and over 100 UN Delegates from 50 countries departed the UN Assembly Hall as he took the stage.

Benjamin Netanyahu took the stage, and the majority of UN Delegates made for the exit doors. The Walkout included over 100 diplomats from more than 50 countries. Staged as a protest by nations that have elected to recognize a Palestinian state, the walkout triggered calls for order and raucous applause directed at Prime Minister Netanyahu from the few remaining fierce Israeli allies, most notably Russia and the American Empire. Benjamin Netanyahu tells those who remain that he is “looking forward” to a new round of peace talks with President Donald Trump on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Global Sumud Flotilla and the Palestinians of Gaza tell the world to keep its eyes fixed firmly on Gaza City, as Israel’s offensive roars to new life. Netanyahu spoke out of both sides of his mouth; while celebrating peace talks, he addressed the mostly empty UN Assembly hall, declaring that Israel "urgently needs to finish the job”, claiming that Hamas has called for “one thousand more” October 7th attacks. Meanwhile, Gaza City has been under heavy bombardment, with a resurgence of Israeli soldiers present in what remains of the city.

Gazans were not safe from Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech either, as loudspeakers were used by the IDF to broadcast his words directly into Gaza, prompting international outrage and condemnation. The Times Of Israel reports that the IDF claims the move “is part of the ‘public diplomacy effort,’” saying the broadcast campaign aimed to help return the 50 hostages still held in Gaza by Hamas. While IDF claimed the trucks were positioned “on the Israeli” side of the border, The Guardian reports that trucks were spotted 1km into Gaza territory.
As Israel’s propaganda machine spooled up, so too did its military. And the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, and UN investigative bodies took notice, placing Israel under even greater scrutiny for the actions of the IDF, and for the actions of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the day.
Meanwhile in New York City, protestors flooded the streets, calling loudly and proudly for the arrest of the Israeli Prime Minister. Throughout the night prior to the speech, demonstrators honked horns and made noise outside the Prime Minister’s hotel in an effort to deny him sleep. Several dozen were arrested by NYPD.
The fight against Israel’s genocide is strong around the world, and while peace efforts are touted by the American Empire’s President Donald Trump, the fact of the matter remains that Israel is redoubling its efforts to destroy Gaza for good and displace its population permanently. The peace talks are a farce, as the American Empire remains quiet on Palestinian statehood and continues to fund offensives in the strip.
So far, the strongest direct aid efforts have come from the Global Sumud Flotilla, the Red Cross/Red Crescent, and UNRWA, but the international community and the UN face criticism for their apparent inability to stop the genocide and other genocides around the world. Gaza’s best hope for survival is the continued vocal support of the citizens of the world in constant efforts to hold governments accountable. The world must recognize Palestinian statehood and back this recognition up with tangible action, and do it quickly, while continuing to condemn both the American Empire and its sous-règne, Israel.
